Tournament Regulations

1. Applicable Rules and Order of Precedence

The tournament will be conducted under the current:

• BWF Laws of Badminton and applicable BWF competition regulations;
• Badminton Europe regulations, including the regulations applicable to the BEC Senior Circuit;
• regulations and decisions of the Hellenic Badminton Federation;
• Official Invitation and these tournament-specific regulations;
• instructions issued by the Referee and the Tournament Director.

2. Eligibility and Age Categories

The tournament is open to players eligible to represent a BWF Member Association. Participants must be in good standing with their national federation or association. The Referee may request proof of identity and date of birth at any time.

A player qualifies for an age category when the relevant age requirement is fulfilled before 1 January of the tournament year.

3. Events and Entry Restrictions

• Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles;
• Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles;
• Mixed Doubles;
• age groups 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+.

A participant may enter a maximum of three different event types: one Singles, one Doubles and one Mixed Doubles event. These event types may be entered in different eligible age categories. A participant may not enter the same event type in more than one age category.

For Doubles and Mixed Doubles, both partners must submit an individual, valid and complete entry and identify each other as partners. Partner pairing may be completed up to the withdrawal deadline.

4. Competition Format

Events may be played in pools, knock-out draws, or a combination of both. The format may differ between events and age groups depending on the number of valid entries. Each participant is guaranteed a minimum of two matches in every event entered.

Where an age group has fewer than four players or pairs, the organisers may merge it with a younger age category. The final format, seeds, draws, match order and schedule will be published on the official tournament website.

Entries are accepted in order of receipt of a complete and valid entry until the published participation limits are reached.

5. Scoring and Match Procedure

Unless an official regulation in force provides otherwise, the standard BWF scoring system applies:

• a match is the best of three games;
• each game is played to 21 points using rally-point scoring;
• at 20–20, a side must gain a two-point lead;
• at 29–29, the side scoring the 30th point wins;
• an interval of up to 60 seconds is permitted when the leading score reaches 11;
• an interval of up to two minutes is permitted between games;
• in the third game, players change ends when the leading score reaches 11.

Players must report ready to play at the time and court indicated. The published schedule is a guide and matches may be called earlier or later due to the progress of play. Participants are responsible for monitoring announcements and schedule updates.

6. Shuttles, Clothing and Equipment

• Official shuttle: RSL Classic Tourney, speed 78.
• Shuttles are not supplied free of charge by the organiser.
• Shuttle tubes will be available for purchase at the venue at the published price.
• Players must wear recognised badminton clothing complying with BWF and BEC rules.
• Advertising, lettering and identification on clothing and equipment must comply with the applicable regulations.
• The Referee may require non-compliant clothing or equipment to be changed.

7. Conduct, Coaching and Fair Play

Players, coaches, team officials and accompanying persons must behave respectfully towards opponents, Technical Officials, volunteers, staff and spectators. The BWF Laws, codes of conduct and instructions of the Technical Officials apply throughout the competition area.

Coaching is permitted only at the times and in the manner allowed by the applicable BWF rules and the instructions issued at the tournament. Deliberate delay, offensive conduct, racket abuse, interference with play or refusal to comply with an official instruction may result in sanctions under the applicable regulations.

8. Withdrawals, No-shows and Entry Fees

• Entry and withdrawal deadline: 13 October 2026.
• No late entries will be accepted.
• Entry fees become due when the entry is accepted under the published procedure.
• Withdrawals after the deadline do not give rise to a refund.
• Participants who cannot attend must notify the organisers without delay.

Failure to pay an outstanding entry fee may also affect the player or Member Association in accordance with the applicable BEC rules and the Official Invitation.

9. Medical Fitness, Insurance and Anti-Doping

Each participant is responsible for being medically fit to compete and for holding appropriate travel, medical and third-party liability insurance for the full duration of the stay in Greece.

The BWF anti-doping framework applies. Participants are responsible for substances found in their body and should check medication and supplement requirements in advance, including any Therapeutic Use Exemption requirements.

10. Integrity, Betting and Match Manipulation

The BWF Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions applies. Participants and other covered persons must not bet on badminton, misuse inside information, offer or accept improper benefits, or attempt to influence the course or result of a match. Suspicious approaches or conduct must be reported through the official BWF integrity channels.

11. Technical Officials and Decisions

The Referee is in overall charge of the tournament. The Umpire is responsible for the match, court and immediate surroundings. Decisions on questions of fact within an official’s responsibility are final. Questions concerning the interpretation of the Laws or regulations must be raised promptly through the Umpire to the Referee.

12. Updates and Acceptance

The organisers may issue operational updates where necessary, provided that these remain consistent with the applicable BWF, BEC and national regulations. Important notices, draws, schedules and results will be published through the official tournament website or announced at the venue.

Submission of an entry constitutes acceptance of the Official Invitation, these regulations, the applicable governing-body rules, the venue rules and lawful instructions issued by tournament officials.
